Gusion Seal

Gusion the Relativity or Gusion, is a great and strong Duke, who appeareth like a Xenopilus. He telleth all things, Past, Present and to Come, and showeth the meaning and resolution of all questions thou mayest ask. He conciliateth and reconcileth friendships, and giveth Honour and Dignity unto any.

Xenophilus was a Pythagorean philosopher and musician who lived in the mid 4th century BCE, and who belonged to the last generation of Pythagoreans. Upon Gusion's invokation, he would appear like that of Xenophilus.

Albert

Albert in 1893 at the age 14.

In 1890, Pauline née Koch played the piano reasonably well and so desired that her son Albert learn the violin, so as to instill in him a love for music. Two years later, her son Albert discovered the violin sonatas of Mozart. He became enamored by Mozart's compositions and even taught himself to play without "ever practicing systematically". Albert commented that "love is a better teacher than a sense of duty."

At age 17, Albert played Beethoven's violin sonatas in Aarau, Switzerland. A school examiner stated afterward that Albert's playing was "remarkable and revealing of 'great insight'". What struck the examiner was that Albert "displayed a deep love of the music, a quality that was and remains in short supply. Music possessed an unusual meaning for this student."

On occasion, Albert performed chamber music for private audiences and friends, which became a regular part of his social life while living in Bern, Zürich, and Berlin. In 1931, while engaged in research at the California Institute of Technology, Albert visited the Zoellner family conservatory in Los Angeles, where he played some of Beethoven and Mozart's works with members of the Zoellner Quartet. Near the end of Albert's life, the young Juilliard Quartet visited him in Princeton, where he played his violin with the Zoellners.

"If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music... I get most joy in life out of music." - Albert Einstein.

In July 1940, the U.S. Army Intelligence office denied Albert Einstein security clearance needed to work on the Manhattan Project.

Gusion's mystical number is 40.
